CHARACTER & CITIZENSHIP
WHAT THE FOUNDERS SAID ABOUT VIRTUE, CHARACTER & CITIZENSHIP
The founders made it clear that freedom could never survive without virtue. This presentation defines virtue then goes through quote after quote from the founders regarding this topic, accompanied by simple explanations. An entertaining look at George Washington's "Rules of Civility", copied when he was a teenager, shows a sharp contrast between his world and ours.
Against this backdrop, we consider today's vices of laziness, bullying, drug use, etc. How can a culture remain free if the citizens do not have virtue? It really is not possible, at least that's what our founders believed.
This presentation is fun and engaging, while causing the students to seriously consider the direction our nation is going. Each student is also challenged to be a part of the solution, not the problem.
